I'm sure just this title terrifies some people. I know we are all beautifully unique and all have our strengths and all have our challenges, but the reality is we all have to wake up and do our day so why not set your day up for a win by getting some healthy practices into your morning. How you start your day is so important as it sets your mindset for the rest of the day ahead of you. If your alarm clock goes and you find you don't have the self motivation to get out of bed, you start your day with procrastination rather than empowering yourself to take on the challenges that the day may bring. Here are a few tips to set your day up for a win before you even leave the house:
1.Plan ahead. If you know you are not a morning person do things the evening before to ensure for a smooth morning. Lay out your outfit, pack your bag, prepare your lunch, write a list of things to do. This will also help you sleep better as you can safely turn your brain off. This way you will wake up more refreshed in the morning.
2. Drink a BIG glass of water! I keep a litre bottle next to my bed and I drink most of it as soon as I wake up. This just gets everything going, telling my body that it is time to wake up. Plus your body has just had 6,7,8 hours without any hydration... so this is just good sense.
3. Stretch it out. If you're a fan of yoga just do a few poses in the morning, really stretch and get the blood flowing. A great place to start is by doing a few easy workout moves in your bedroom. I love to workout in the morning, I love to run or go to the gym but I know not everyone can fit that into their morning routine straight away, but that's ok. Just a few stretches, raise your heart rate a little, taking the time to be aware of your body is a great start.
4. Eat Breakfast. So many people tell me they don't have time for breakfast even though they know how important it is for their body. Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day. Anyone who follows me on instagram will see what I eat for breakfast and I think loving it is a big part of it. Have a breakfast that you look forward to eating. Then you won't skip it. Keep delicious foods in your fridge that you really enjoy. It doesn't have to expensive, apple and cinnamon porridge is one of my favourites and it's super cheap! Take time to sit down, eat your breakfast.
5.Think! Don't let social media be the first thing that your brain is exposed to in the morning. Take your mornings to invest in you. Don't look at your emails when you're still in bed so you get up stressed. Focus your mind on what you want to achieve today. What were the victories of yesterday? What are you thankful for today? Remember your mind controls your brain and body... so think healthily!
Yes this may mean waking up earlier than you normally would, it may mean putting your alarm clock on the other side of the room so you can't snooze for hours, it may mean getting a little more organised so you aren't running around in the morning... but all of this sets you up to win. You have a victory before you leave the house meaning you feel empowered to continue to conquer throughout the day. Be the best version of you that you can be. Invest in to loving yourself so you can give love to the world around you!
I took this photo making deliveries around Berlin at 8am in the morning. Sometimes waking up early means you get to see the best part of the day. Have a happy week everyone!
