Love Your Body Bars

I believe that we are spirit beings and our bodies are the homes that we have been given to live this life out of. You can't know a person just by looking at them because the real them lives within, the body is just what is used to house the true self. Our bodies love us the best that they can... Think about it, when you hurt yourself, your body puts all its effort into healing the pain or mending the skin, when a virus comes, your white blood cells fight to fend it off, when you sleep it is working to refresh and recharge you. When you eat your body does the very best it can with what you give it to work with. Your body is doing it's best to enable you to live your life to your full potential. How we love our bodies back determines the level to which it can look after us... if that makes sense. It's a two way thing.

Our bodies are made up of 7 Octillion atoms! That is more than the amount of stars in our galaxy! Why am I telling that? Because I want you to realise how incredible your body is. It is so complex and beautiful... this is why we need to love our bodies and look after to them to the best of our ability, so that we can live the life that we were placed on this planet to live. Eating well, regular exercise, relaxation, purposeful work... all these things that make up a holistic, healthy life should come out of a place of love. Loving your body because it loves YOU!

A good place to start is by feeding it healthy, nutritious, whole foods that it can use to keep all those systems running well. These bars are super easy, really delicious and most importantly, full of amazing goodness that your body will love. ENJOY!

LOVE YOUR BODY BARS - Make 8 - 10 big bars

You will need:

200g Dates
250g Rolled Oats
2 1/2 Apples
100g cranberries
1/2 cup water
2 tbsp Chia seeds

Method

Preheat your oven to 180*C. Cut up one and a half of your apples into chunks and put them into a blender with the 1/2 cup of water and blend together until they are totally pureed. Then add the dates and blend. You may need to soak your dates for 10 minutes in boiling water to soften them up a little but you want to make a paste like mixture out of it. Then pour it in to a bowl and grate the other apple into the mixture and give it a good stir.

Put your chia seeds into a glass on the side and mix in hot water, you want to add 4 parts water to your seeds so around 8 tbsp and let them soak to absorb all the water... this should take around 10 minutes. Warm water helps to speed it up. Pour in the cranberries and the oats and mix them all in together.

You might feel like it is looking a little dry and that's when the sprouted chia seeds come in... they make a fantastic vegan alternative for egg to bind stuff together. I use them in a lot of my baking. Then take your oven tray and line it with baking paper and pour the mixture in. Then you decided how many to want, how thick you want to make them etc. I like quite thick bars but this is up to you. Use the back of a spoon to flatten it all out.

Pop them in the oven for around 25 minutes, you should start to smell the deliciousness! Once they come out of the oven leave them in the pan for 5 minutes before taking them out and placing them on a cooling rack. This is really important because the bottom will go soggy if you don't allow it to cool properly.

Once they have cooled down you can cut them into bars... I've made these ones pretty big, so perfect for a breakfast on the go or an afternoon pick me up before an evening dance class. But these are great for lunch boxes, they are nut free so kids can have them in schools and they are really yummy.

Hope you enjoy them and think about what you are doing this week to love your body and thank it for doing it's best to look after you!

Happy Monday! xxx
